Laptop to HDMI

How to connect your laptop to your TV via HDMI

  1. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into your HDMI input on your laptop.
     

  2. Plug the other end of the cable into one of the HDMI inputs on your TV.
     

  3. Using the remote control, select the input button. This is sometimes referred to as the source on some remote controls. This button is usually found at the top right of a remote control. Once this button is elected, choose the HDMI that corresponds to where you plugged in the cable (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, etc.).

Depending on the type of computer you have, you may be able to connect wirelessly. This guide is for a windows 10 PC . Please note this only works on a Smart TV - a TV that connects to the internet.

Open the action centre in the lower right corner of the screen. (It looks like a chat bubble.)

From the dashboard, select Connect.

 

At the bottom right, click Projecting to the PC.

 

From the Settings page, select either Available everywhere on secure networks or Available everywhere.

 

Under "Ask to project this PC" choose either First time only or every time, based on your personal preference. You can also decide if you want to require a PIN.

 

Your PC will alert you that your TV wants to connect, click Yes.

Once it connects, your PC will launch the Windows connect app.

How to connect your Apple laptop to your Smart TV wirelessly

If you have a compatible Smart TV, you can easily connect your apple laptop to it through AirPlay. Compatible devices include Apple TV or AirPlay 2-enabled Smart TVs (i.e. TVs from 2019 or later from Samsung, LG or Vizio). AirPlay allows you to stream videos or mirror the display on your device's screen on your TV.

Make sure your laptop and Apple TV or AirPlay 2-enabled Smart TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.

On your laptop, open the app or pull up the website that you want to stream video from.

In the video playback controls, select the Screen Mirroring icon.

Choose either your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-enabled Smart TV.

To end your streaming session, tap the Screen Mirroring icon in the video playback controls, then choose Turn Off AirPlay.

How to connect your Chromebook to your Smart TV with Chromecast.

Connect your Chromecast to the HDMI port on your Smart TV.

Using your remote control, select the HDMI input that corresponds to where you plugged it in.

Open the Chrome browser on your computer and select Cast.

If this is your first time setting it up, follow the directions on screen to complete the device setup.

In the lower right corner you should see "Cast devices available," select it to see all the casting options you have available.

  • Internal Display > Share allows you to mirror everything on your screen.Pull up Netflix in your browser and the TV show or movie you want to watch, select the Cast icon.For YouTube, pull up the video you'd like to watch and select Play on TV from the menu bar.

How to connect your Mobile Phone to your Smart TV

Android Screen Mirroring

Simply swipe down from the top and into your notifications panel. 

Within there you should find a screen mirroring option. On Samsung devices is called Smart View

If you don’t have this feature available, screen mirroring can still be available by downloading the Google Home app. Once downloaded, tap account button at the bottom right corner and scroll down to mirror device, then simply select your TV or monitor.

Miracast

Many modern HDTVs have Miracast support built in. The easiest way to see if your TV is supported is to Google your TV’s model name + “Miracast”.

If your TV isn’t supported, you can also pick up a Miracast dongle that’ll add the necessary capabilities. Just plug it into a power source and an HDMI port, and you’ll be ready to begin.

On your Android device, go to the Settings menu > tap on Display > then tap Wireless display.

At the top of this page, toggle “Wireless display” to ON and it will scan for nearby Miracast devices.

After a minute, the name of your Miracast adapter should pop up.

Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Method 1:

Use AirPlay to stream or share content from your Apple devices to your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV. Stream a video. Share your photos. Or mirror exactly what's on your device's screen.

Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.

 

Find the video that you want to stream.

Tap AirPlay . In some apps, you might need to tap a different icon first.* In the Photos app, tap Share  , then tap AirPlay.

Choose your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.

Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.

Open Control Center:

  • On iPhone X or later or iPad with iPadOS 13 or later: Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen.

  • On iPhone 8 or earlier or iOS 11 or earlier: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen. 

Tap Screen Mirroring

 

Select your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV from the list.

If an AirPlay passcode appears on your TV screen, enter the passcode on your iOS or iPadOS device.
